Greetings National Alumni Association of Sabine High School (NAASHS) Members, Sabine High School Alumni, Family and Friends of the Sabine Parish community.
The National Alumni Association of Sabine High School celebrated an incredible 50 Years of Service and Scholarship! What a weekend!
On behalf of the Executive Board of the National Alumni Association of Sabine High School (NAASHS), I want to thank everyone who participated in the 50th Anniversary events on August 14-16, 2026 at the Cypress Bend Resort. I want to personally thank the Board for working tirelessly to make this event successful. This event was not possible without your effort. ,
This year’s theme was: 50th Anniversary Celebrating Excellence and Scholarship.
All events were well attended. Our usual Friday night Meet & Greet was enhanced by adding a new event, the Boots and Bling Dance. The dance also included a line dance class taught by LeAngiela Clark-Drake. The lobby display of pictures and artifacts documenting the history of Sabine High School was nothing short of phenomenal. Mr. Emanuel Curry curated this display. Great job as usual.
Our Saturday Business Session was highlighted by a “State of the Association” presentation. NAASHS is again ONE organization, on solid footing, with a growing membership base. Our membership base includes both new and returning members. More importantly, our local base in Many is increasing. Local participation is the key to our sustained growth.
The Saturday night Blue and White Scholarship Gala was “Sold Out”. Yes, “Sold Out”. The grand ballroom was beautifully and elegantly decorated by Ms. Shasity Brumfield of Many, LA. Saturday’s gala highlights included:
-The proclamation that was read by Mayor Robert Hable, City of Many.
-Scholarships ($6000) awarded to four Sabine Parish graduating seniors. Scholarship recipients:
- Arreyuna Garrett (NAASHS General Scholarship)
- Taylor Gasaway (NAASHS General Scholarship)
- Lynsi Montgomery (Holden Allied Health)
- Alexander Stewart (Rev. W.M. and Lena Garner)
-Keynote address by Herbert Clint Wolfe, Sabine High School Class of 1963. Mr. Wolfe personally encouraged each of our scholarship recipients with his words of wisdom and recipe for success.
-Mrs. Mackie B. Johnson and Mrs. Shirley Wilson were honored as SHS centenarians.
-NAASHS Service Awards:
- The family of Roland McGrough (Lifetime contributor to NAASHS)
- Georgia Pierce-Baker (Lifetime contributor to NAASHS)
- Priscilla Wolfe-King (Lifetime contributor to NAASHS)
- The son of Frank “Lump” Davis as the visionary founder of NAASHS
-Update on the Sabine High School Revitalization Project (SHSRP) from Executive Director Sandra Garner-Coleman
-A “Call to Service” message from Mae Mallard-Moore
A special thank you to Adrian Newton for the commemorative tee shirt design, Tk’nique Allen (daughter of Anita Palmer) for the printing and packaging of the tee shirts at no charge and DJ Platinum (Clifton Sweet) for keeping the groove on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Again, thank all for your support, participation and donations.
